Frequently asked questions

Heirlūm helps families put their plans into words the people around them can act on. We do that through free guides, consulting by referral and Life Continuity Planning™, our method for organizing the information, decisions and responsibilities a family needs when life changes.
-
Life Continuity Planning™ is Heirlūm's method for organizing the information, decisions, wishes and responsibilities a family needs to act on during an illness, a move or a death. It covers what estate documents usually leave out: who has been named and whether they know where things are kept and who to call first.
-
No. Heirlūm doesn't draft or hold legal documents and we don't give legal, tax, financial or insurance advice. We work alongside the attorneys and advisors who do. When something needs a professional, our guides give you the questions to bring them.
-
A will or trust records what someone wants and gives it legal force. It usually doesn't tell the people around them that it exists, where it's kept or what to do first. Life Continuity Planning™ covers that part and works with the documents you already have.
-
We're not a storage service. We don't keep your documents, account numbers or passwords. Our guides record locations and contacts only: the name of the bank, not the account number. If you work with us as a consulting client, the information you share is held only while we prepare your plan, then returned to you or destroyed.
-
Adults planning for their own household, for their parents or both. Most people who use our guides are somewhere in the middle: they have some documents or know their parents do and aren't sure about the rest.
